designing a Mixed-Use space
The Zandkasteel, a former ING headquarters in Amsterdam, has been transformed into a vibrant mixed-use building. Working alongside an inspiring team with Sonam as leading architect, MOSS was responsible for the green design that bridges heritage and modern use.
bringing nature indoors
MOSS curated planting concepts across the public spaces, enhancing light, acoustics, and atmosphere while also connecting users to nature. Modular planters provide flexibility, while color-based planting zones create a park-like quality that adapts to different uses and moods.
Designing an indoor city, complete with Nature
The vision was to create an “internal city” of streets, squares, and parks that could serve as workplaces, cultural spaces, and homes. By weaving greenery into every zone, MOSS reinforced the building’s organic architecture to encourage community and well-being.
focusing on the environment
With circular furniture, biodiversity-focused planting, and smart irrigation systems, we kept eco-friendly principles at the front of our minds. By reusing materials and breathing new life into an existing structure, the project greatly minimized environmental impact.
