The central headquarters of RWS, a building designed originally in 1975 and modified in 2007, is on a path of modernization. This project called not only for a high-quality, representative, and inviting workspace, but also a sustainable sanctuary where nature and functionality come together.

A Landmark Workplace Revitalized in Utrecht
The Westraven office in Utrecht was transformed for client Rijkswaterstaat with Cepezed leading the architecture, Hollandse Nieuwe shaping the interiors, and MOSS bringing in biophilic design.
integrating the balance of yin and yang
The Yin & Yang Garden Concept introduces two distinct yet interconnected outdoor patios that reflect the balance of duality — formality and informality, structure and nature. Each space has a unique function and atmosphere, while a shared circular design language and planting strategy bring them together into one harmonious whole.
Designing Connection Through Green Space
The concept centered on turning Westraven into an open, people-first environment. Natural light, monumental planting, and custom planters softened the vast architecture. Atriums and outdoor patios now blur boundaries between inside and outside, making a workplace rooted in connection.
A Model of Sustainable Transformation
Westraven embraces ambitious sustainability goals, with energy-efficient systems. We contributed with smart irrigation systems, climate-adaptive greenery, and species that thrive long-term indoors.
