At The Bridge in Amsterdam, landscape, architecture and activity come together across multiple levels. From lush green spaces to a padel court, the landscape invites people to move, meet and play.
the New Landmark in Amsterdam Zuidoost
The Bridge comprises of two high-rise blocks which appear connected, while visually decoupled by use of different materials and concepts. Together, they provide over 9,600 m² for residences, office spaces, and social functions. MOSS designed the green landscape across the development.
a literal green bridge
In the developing area of Zuidoost, integrated greenery is of great importance but somewhat challenging, due to the lack of green nearby. With Oudekerkerplas closeby, we were able to design a concept to strengthen the green corridor between the Oudekerkerplas and Gaasperplas to support biodiversity.
new ecological corridor for biodiversity
Our strategy used green to harmonize various uses and concepts of the development. Every floor features outdoor areas, and the fifth floor holds a complete rooftop garden. The gardens function as a “Green Bridge” between different spaces, offering a corridor for biodiversity and individuals to wander through nature.
a landscape built for sports and fun
The roof landscapes were designed for more than greenery alone. On the building’s highest rooftop, a padel court creates an unexpected space for sports, and play. A green planter runs alongside the court, softening the architecture and bringing nature into the active setting.
