Galapagos is a fully integrated biotechnology company with a focus on transforming patient outcomes through life-changing science and innovation. MOSS contributed to the biophilic interiors and outdoor landscapes, integrating greenery that enhances workspaces and collaboration. Fun fact: the building’s glass facade maximizes natural light while visually connecting interior labs with the exterior landscape.
designing for innovation
MOSS contributed with a biophilic experience both inside and outside the office. Galapagos sought big green gestures to create a welcoming atmosphere where the team can connect with greenery to improve productivity and wellbeing. We included more than 200m2 of lush vertical green walls inside the office. More than 50 species of plants are incorporated in the walls, and green-integrated furniture elements.
local and ecological influence
The outdoor green entrance uses soft lines and geometric shapes to promote slowing down and connecting with nature. Visitors can notice birdhouses, insect hotels, and depending on the seasons, scores of butterflies fluttering around the floral garden perimeter. The outdoor design for this project also includes a quiet backyard garden that opens up to a waterway for employees to find space for respite. The side garden also allows for shared activities and programs, with a space for small presentations, informal meetings, and an outdoor workout space.
